Indoor Gardens / by Kathryn Trentini

An indoor garden instantly brings life to any space; it can completely brighten a gloomy day, it gives you a connection to the outdoors, and it's beneficial to our daily health and well-being. No matter what size home, or office you occupy an indoor garden adds another living element to another wise static space. To find a good indoor planter though can prove so difficult! And of course I have a long checklist that the planter must meet.

Firstly, it must be practical and easy to use. I can't tell you how many self-watering planters I've had where I can't seem to actually get the water into that teeny tiny hole that's at a really awkward angle. I find it completely frustrating because I can never find the right 'watering can'! Secondly, it must look good! I want it be as interesting and stylish as all my other ceramics and vases and lovely little items that I collect.

An indoor garden doesn't end though with the self-watering planter. There are so many interesting vessels available with a modern take such as the hanging planter with leather straps, tiny vessels for air plants, and indoor wall planters. If you're looking to create an indoor garden over the weekend here is a collection of some of my favourite self-watering planters and ways to display and arrange an indoor garden. Happy gardening!
